I believe you know that a 2.4% number in a GDP report means “an annual growth rate” of that number,” i.e., if the economy will for twelve months grow as it did in the previous quarter, the economy will grow by a total of 2.4%.

I believe you also know that a 2.4% number is a 2.4% growth rate over a quarter earlier. Meaning, the economy in the Second Quarter grew on a rate of 2.4% over where the economy was in the First Quarter. This means, if the economy contracted sharply (steep recession) for a year or two, and then we have growth rates of 2-3 percent, it is much smaller in actual economic activity than if we have 2-3 percent growth rates following a strong or modest year of economic growth.

Once you know this, you ‘get’ a few things regarding the 2.4% of the recent quarter:

1) Economic growth is still VERY bad, considering that we are coming off a VERY steep decline in economic activity yet the growth rates on average of the last four quarters were a mere 3.1% (quarter over quarter).

2) The economic growth during the Clinton-Bush-Parrot election year of 1992 was doing just fine, considering that the average quarter-over-quarter growth rate was 4.3%, in addition to the fact that it followed a very light recession a year earlier.

3) The average quarter-over-quarter growth rates of 1983, which followed shortly after most Reagan Tax Cuts kicked in, was 7.7%. This means, Reaganomics were WAY more affective and productive – in terms of GDP – compared to what the Stimulus has to show for itself, despite the fact that 60% of it is already out the door.

Next Time a Dem tells you “it could have been worse,” tell them “it could have been better.”

The Massachusetts State Senate voted that the Presidential Candidate who wins the national popular vote, will get the State’s 12 Electoral College, vs. the current system that the winner of each state gets the electors. The candidate, who has the most, becomes president, regardless what the national popular vote was.

By doing so, Massachusetts took away the relevance of any President Candidate to campaign for votes in MA. Candidates will be better off visiting the large states where they can reach more voters at once. Em, exactly (between others) why we have the Electoral College in the first place: to make sure that voters in the small states that joined the Union, don’t get ignored. Yes, that is why every state, regardless how few people live there, has two Senators – equal representation – in the US Senate. In the House however, representation depends on population, to make sure that the larger states get their compensation for joining the union.

But of course, the Leftist is MA don’t care about all this, because to them Americans are too stupid to “get” this Electoral thing. (Let’s not discuss now that Electors can technically vote for which candidate they want).

Obama’s approval rating between the general population according to a CNN Poll conducted July 16-21, is 47%. However, 93% of blacks approve of Obama’s work, almost identical to where it was a year ago – a time that 57% of the nation approved of Obama’s work.

Considering that Blacks are 13% of the population, and Obama’s high approval in that community is more of a pride thing rather than actual approving of his work (the Unemployment Rate in the Black community is sky high and things didn’t get better the last twelve months), you would want to dump as junk half of the 13 points that Blacks add to Obama’s general numbers. This leaves Obama with a real approval rating of 40.5%.

Maybe African Americans do not represent thirteen points in the poll. Perhaps more, if you figureout the fine-print of the Poll. Regardless, the point is what it is: Obama, other Dem Presidents, and Dem Presidential Candidates, get unquestionable support from the black community, regardless what the facts are, and regardless what the population in general thinks of the Dem president/candidate. EXEAMPLE: Reagan destroyed Mondale in 1984, yet 91% of the African American Community still voted for that buffoon Mondale!

You remember speaker Pelosi saying that “we need to pass HC Reform to know what’s in it”? And “the more people know about it, the more they will like it”?

You remember those two lines? Well I do. Therefore, I looked up some poll numbers.

A Very recent CNN Poll has 54% surveyed disapproving of Obama’s handling of HC, vs. 44% who do approve, which means HCR is still a net-negative for Obama.

Worse, according to a Bloomberg Poll of a few weeks ago, 32% have the same opinion on HCR as they did a few months ago when it passed, and another 37% support it LESS. This means that a total of 69% Americans do NOT fit into the category that Dem leaders told their members will take place, I.e. that more and more Americans will like it more as the election draws closer.

I am not being sarcastic: the ousted BP CEO Tony Heyward, which will serve until the end of September, did do a good job during this spill crisis – in the context of a CEO’s responsibility.

A CEO of a multinational firm with dozens of drilling operations, hundreds of exploration projects, thousands of workers, millions of shares on world markets, and billions of dollars in cash and assets around half the world, CANNOT have knowledge or control on all aspects of a deepwater disaster.

This of course is something that lazy bums in the media and big mouths on Capital Hill – who never held or studied a CEO job – don’t ‘get.’ And indeed, Heyward’s gaffes, which were few and minor to the gaffes of Obama and Biden, did certainly not help either. But all in all, a CEO of such a large firm can’t let go and forget of the rest of the firm just to be busy with one disaster, regardless how big it is or regardless what people in Congress have to say.

Finally, I don’t ‘get’ why people were madethat Tony enjoyed his Yacht outing a day after everyone applauded the fact that he was relieved of his oil spill duties. Why should Tony NOT be out on the yacht, if the oil spill ain’t his issue anymore?

In an Obama-era of blame, blame, and blame, this is the rethoric that you will get. I only wonder for how many months the new BP CEO will say that he “inherited this mess” and therefore things will get worse by each passing month…

Well, oops. Everyone knows Ford didn’t take bailout money, and they still survived. This proves that the Auto Industry could have survived without the bailouts. It was mostly the union contracts, benefits funds and pension plans that needed and got the bailout. Not the Industry to continue, as we see Ford is outsthining GM and Chrysler for the longest time – WITHOUT the huge bailouts.

Why do they oppose extended Unemployment benefits out of concern about the deficit? That comes across as out-of-touch with Americans that can’t find work.

Republicans need to oppose it by saying “the agenda of the Dems to give endless Unemployment Benefits is going on for eighteen months now in forms of ‘jobs bills,’ but obviously it didn’t put Americans back to work. Instead, we should pass immediate tax credits and tax benefits which will generate economic activity, jobs and (pay for itself by) revenue to the government, just as the Republican-requested tax credits for home buyers revitalized the housing market until the credits expired.”

Why can’t Repubs use this reasoning? They are NUTS!

Why don’t Repubs ask the Dems ‘if your Stimulus created SO many jobs, why do we need to give Unemployment Benefits for periods three times longer than any recent recession, in an economy that is eitheen months since the Stimulus; ninteen months since Obama has the White House, and 42 months since Dems control Capital Hill?’

O right, the Dems messed-up the economy. It’s time to vote them out!

A vast majority of people surveyed recently believe that the economy, eighteen months after the Stimulus, is still in a very poor shape.

Indeed, with an Unemployment Rate double than before Dems took control of Congress; the private sector economy – according to official BLS data – losing a net three million jobs since the Stimulus; the Stock Market in retreat; Home foreclosures expected to surpass the 2009 record, and federal deficits nine times larger than the last Republican deficit (less than $170 billion in FY 2007), few would think that the economy is doing anything but bad.

To counter this negative view that Americans have on the economy, Dems have a list of talking-points to prove unemployed and frustrated Americans how wrong they are.

Here are the excuses, depending on the economic news of the day:

First, the economy is still bad because it’s Bush’s fault. Secondly, things are actually getting better, but could have been much worse if not for the stimulus. Third, this economy is booming, as we in fact “created and saved more jobs than originally thought” (as Congressman Eliot Engel of NY – against whom I am working – claimed in a recent Press Release). Besides, if not for Republicans – VP Biden claims – we would have had a larger Stimulus, which would have given us by now a good economy.

I just wonder how Dems shamelessly keep selling these conflicting talking points every other day, thinking that Americans are really THAT stupid! But what else would you expect from a Party who asked for the head of a Congressman – Joe Barton – who in a poor word-choosing suggested that the Rule of Law be followed in times of crisis, just days after one of their own House members was seen physically hitting a teenage boy, yet had no problem with that one.

The math now is that Repubs need to pick up 39 House seats in November to gain control of the Lower House.

On meet the press today, Republican Congressman Pete Sessions, chair of the NRCC, said his Party will pick-up slightly more than forty House seats in November, yet Dem Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the DCCC, said that the Dems will retain control of the House.

Well, the difference between Dems retaining control (38 seats) or Republican picking up slightly more than forty seats is a difference of 3-4 House seats. No? In other words, when Pelosi and other Dems speak about “retaining control,” they pretty much agree that Dems may lose almost forty (38) seats…

I am not writing satire here. I just want TV/Radio host to challenge Dems as to how many seats they expect to lose when they talk about “retaining control,” because as far I am concerned, losing 38 seats keeps Dems in Control, and the number 38 (em, “retaining control”) is almost identical to a Republican saying that Repub will gain 40-plus seats.

At least both parties agree on something..>

Christopher St. Lawrence (D), Supervisor of the Town Of Ramapo, in Rockland County NY, has recently published a letter asking all residence to enter an I.C.E., In Case of Emergency contact in their self phones. The gain? In case of emergency, say someone is found passed out, the arriving emergency personal should know where to call. They will flip open the person’s handheld device, search the Contact Section for ICE and dial the first or any other number posted to be reached In Case of Emergency.

This idea is probably not new, but I saw it first only recently. I think it is cool, depsite the “privecy issues” that some of my Conservative friends may have with this…

Just as note: while the ICE number is likely a person that is already saved in your phone, you still have the option of saving the number again under a new name. It works with my junk phone. It should work with your’s too.

The political world today is up-in-arms with poll results from Mason-Dixon out of Nevada that placed Harry Reid with 44% of the vote, vs. only 37% that the Republican Angle gets in the poll.

If you bother looking here, you will see that the Poll surveyed 43% Dems, 40% Repubs, and 17% Indies, in a state that Dems indeed have an 8-percantge point advantage in total voter registration, yet this advantage gets cut by more than half if you count only the so-called active voters as of June 2010. In addition, we are now in an election year that Republicans are way more enthused to go out voting that are Dems. So this poll is a joke.
